Spectrum of defects
A wide range of major fetal abnormalities can be diagnosed at the 11-13 weeks scan.
Some of these abnormalities are associated with increased NT:
- Major cardiac defects
- Diaphragmatic hernia
- Exomphalos
- Megacystis
- Body stalk anomaly
- Skeletal abnormalities
In other abnormalities fetal NT is usually normal:
- Acrania / anencephaly
- Ventriculomegaly
- Holoprosencephaly
- Spina bifida
- Gastroschisis
